Dr. James Henry Stageman, son of Dr. John Frederick and Vesta (Laing) Stageman, was born July 1, 1908 in Persia, Iowa. He practiced dentistry in Council Bluffs, Iowa from 1931 to 1941 before serving in World War II. He enlisted in the Army March 24, 1941. Originally a member of the Iowa National Guard, he was reassigned to the Nebraska National Guard because they needed a dentist. He departed for the ETO May 12, 1944, served in the 35th Infantry Division, and returned to the US August 28, 1945. Following the war he reopened his dental practice in Council Bluffs and retired in 1973. After retirement he and his wife Celia moved to Mesa, Arizona. Capt Dr. James H Stageman died June 10, 1999 in Mesa, Arizona. He is buried at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Council Bluffs, Iowa.
