134th Infantry Regiment"All Hell Can't Stop Us" |
This photo of Pvt. Stuart
Fenton Smith, Army s/n 32747846, was taken at Ft. Brady, Michigan in March 1943
while Smith was with the 131st Infantry Regiment. Born in 1915 and from
Albany County, NY, Smith enlisted in the Army National Guard in February 1943.
However, the 131st was deactivated in February 1944 as part of a reorganization,
and it appears that Smith was reassigned to another National Guard unit, the
137th Infantry Regiment. He apparently participated in combat in and around St.
Lo, Normandy, France in July 1944 where he was killed in action.
