T/5 John P. Smith landed at Omaha Beach with the 134th Infantry Regiment on July 5 - 6, 1944 and returned to the United States on the Queen Mary after the war's end in September 1945.  He was born in 1922 and is from Chicago, Illinois.  He passed away in 1977 and is survived by his two sons, Robert and Kevin.
