Pfc Wesley J McKay

Pfc. Wesley J McKay is 93 and lives in Ely, MN with his daughter Betty Kroll.  He spent 26 months in the Aleutian Islands prior to his service in Europe.  He left New York harbor on New Years Day, 1945 enroute to Europe.  He joined the front line at Bastogne on 1/16/45.  He was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. He resided in Kelsey, MN from the end of WWII until he turned 90.

In May of 2010, he traveled to Washington DC with his son John, John's son Jeremy, and his friend Ken Hage to see the WWII Memorial.  According to his son it was a very moving experience and the tourists were very respectful to his father and his friend.
