Thank you for this wonderful website!
My father, 1LT Arnold Tucker, served in Co C, 1st Bn, 137th Inf, last fought in the Breiterwald Woods, showed up on the 110th Med Bn list 12/20/44. Like most WW2 vets, he did not talk about the war until very late in his life. A few years before he passed away, he gave me his last military map and showed me where his unit was located in the Breiterwald Woods. He often stated how much he wished he could contact the men under his command as he felt very badly about leaving his men due to medical evacuation. Chances are slim, I realize, but if anyone reading this entry served with my father or knows someone who did, I would greatly appreciate a post to this guestbook.

My father, Malcolm J. Vanderhoff, served in Company K during WWI. He was a Tech Sgt/Plt Sgt during the war. He was wounded in Nov 1944 and missed the 35th's part in the battle of the bulge, returning to his unit in January 1945 time frame (based on reports I found on this site). He stayed with the unit until sent home. He was discharged but went back into the Army in late 1949 (I think) and went to OCS getting commissioned as a 2LT in the Ordnance Corps. He retired around 1964/65 timeframe as a Major.

If anyone knew him I would be glad to talk with you.

My grandfather (Billie Parkerson) was an enlisted member of the 216 Field Artillery Batallion (Medical Detachment). He died at the age of 49, and my father was only 12 years old at the time. I have many pictures that he send home (or brought home?) while deployed, and some of them have scribbled notes on the back. Some of them indicate they were taken near St. Lo and Chateaudun. Would you be interested in copies of these pictures?

We, unfortunately know very little about what my grandfather did in the war, but this site has at least given me a glimpse at what his batallion's contributions were. If anyone has any detailed information about the 216th FA BN, I would be very interested in it.

Thanks,
Joey

My Father Leon Irgang was a solider in the 137th Infantry, wounded on Sept 20th 1944. Thank you so much such a detailed account of the war. My brother and sister are so deeply touched and moved reading the details of the day he was wounded.
respectfully,
Karen Irgsang

Great site. My father (Fred Froelich) is in one of the photos (Company C - 1st Platoon). Truly amazing to see him back in the day. Thank you for compiling all of this great history. I have enjoyed learning about a lot of things he didn't always like to talk about.

Best regards,

Brian Froelich

Great website. I read a little bit every week. Many enjoyable hours left. Mostly thanks for giving my dad his own webpage. Back with his buddies where he belongs.

I wish I would of known he was in Bad Axe. I would of gone to see him. I also wonder if when they get to heaven they find out if they did something to make the wars turn out the way they did. God bless all Vets and their families.
