I am the daughter of the late Capt. James Wesley Ireland III.
I am trying to locate someone who may have known him.
Also, is there a place I can find a list of officers who served in the regiment?
Thank you.

Vigil - Thank you so much for all your work maintaining this site and adding new content. I've tried to verify for some time which regiment my Dad was assigned to. I finally found him in your listing, Miguel Virgil, Company E, 137th. Actually, his name is spelled VIGIL, as annotated.

Yes, I have heard very much about my past husband John DeWoody's Uncle Sid. About Sid's). we learned much of his bravery and tenacity in this war. Also about him coming home and why he did not
In our home for years we kept on the wall a large oval colorized photograph of (John) Sidney DeWoody.
I also know Mrs,Kathy Balow. Kathy is the niece of Christine Barlow. John Sid's wife. Kathy and I had learned by accident one fair day when Kathy Barlow Thompson called me on the phone to ask me to come and see the "doll" she called it that that her Aunt Christine Barlow had left her.
After seeing hers I ran across the highway to get mine and show it too her. It was truly remarkable to each of us that we both possessed 2 very similar pieces of handmade American historical folk art, so perfectly similar. The portraits were hand made and given to favorite family members, a bit of American country art of Sid's era. The portraits are of small girls playing, wearing authentic clothing, (real satin cloth and touting human hair pinned in curls with bobby pins. The portraits had green painted grassy fields painted behind then for background. A bit of artifact from the ladies who waited for their men to come home, Thank you, Jo DeWoody
