I was doing some research on my father and his service. He was in the 35 th division, 134th infantry, company I. He wouldn't talk much about the war until he was in his seventies. He has since written down some of his experiences. He carried a BAR and he and the rifle squad were clearing a small town of German snipers that were left to cover their retreat when he was shot in both legs. That was on March 27, 1945. He didn't remember the town so I was trying to find out what town(s) the 134th was in on that day. Thanks to all that have served. Thankfully he is still with us at 89.

An exciting find on Father's Day 2014! I was very close to my Grandfather. Very appreciative of whomever took the time and effort to make this page and so happy to have a high quality copy of this photo. Thank you!

My Father-in-law, Paul C. Kirchner, died 1976, was in Co L, 134th Inf. Regiment From November 1944 until 30 Dec 1944 when he was captured at Luterbois.
Paul was in Stalag X-C in Nienburg, Germany until 25 April 1944.
His Daughter my Wife, his Great-Grand-Daughter, and myself will visit Bastogne and Luterbois next week.
Ironically his Grand-Daughter is attending Vet. School in Hanover, only 30 miles from Nienburg, on a German grant.
