This is a great site. My father, John Loyd Gray, served with this outfit and was wounded in an ambush and taken prisoner on August 11, 1944. He was placed in the hospital in Paris by his captors, and, in one of those ironies of life, they actually saved him. He had been left for dead after the ambush and he and another soldier were discovered by the Germans. Until I found this site, I could only wonder what his experience was. He didn't speak about it often or with any real detail. He passed away in 2001. This site allows me to reconnect with him and appreciate his service to the country along with all these other folks he served with. It was good to follow him from San Luis Obispo all the way to France.

I am one of the proud daughters ( the baby of the family !! ). I really never saw as him anything else but my daddy growing up. It is amazing to me what he has done with his life growing up, during war time, his military career and at home with his family. He was such a proud man and has past that down to his children and grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was my Hero and will always be. I miss him so much but know he and our mother are always looking over us to make sure that we are standing at attention and making them proud. Yes sir, no sir, how high sir !!! :-)

My father was an officer in 137th/CO K and was wounded and captured in Villers La Bonne Eau on 30 Dec 1944. According to a conversation I had with a medic who was with him and also survived the war (also as a POW), the Germans shot and killed most -- if not all -- of the able bodied members of their company K before they abandoned Villers la Bonne Eau on January 10.

They took my father and this medic with them to back to Germany. I have always wondered how many of Companies K & L ever survived after being cut off in Villers.

I am trying to locate any information about my uncle, Pvt. Henry Milford Jones who was killed in action 23rd July 1944 in St Lo, France. My mother was a young girl when her older brother left for the war and she would very much appreciate any information.
Thank you
