Loyd Lafayette Ake was my uncle. KIA France 14 Sept 1944. My mother says Loyd was the sweetest man you'd ever meet and had a premonition he'd never return home. Mom says Loyd was just too kind to be sent into combat. He was apparently killed during the crossing of the Moselle in the battle of Nancy.

We honor his service and do not forget the sacrifice he made for the benefit of us all.

RIP uncle Loyd. I never knew you but your spirit lives on in our memories and in the name of my son, Patrick Loyd Holt.

I was elated to find my father listed in the roaster..George E Wiersma. He was a lineman in the 137th.

He was only one of 7 in his Co. that didn't get wounded...and that was strictly by the grace of God.

I have his original book titled "Combat History of the 137th Infantry Regiment WWII"

I am a Viet Nam Vet 538th Engr Bn APO 96233 Thailand

My GreatUncle John W/ Hutchins was medic with !st Battalion, ran across a article in Stars and Stripe In Janurary of 1945 of him and four other medics carrying out around twenty men under artilley fire. The other medics were Roland David, Gilyan La. Mike Bryan, Caregie Pa. and William Paller, Chicago,Ill.
John past away two years ago,I;m a Vietnam Combat vet and it was still hard to get him to talk about his service. Love to get a copy of the medic picture here on this sight. Who knows may see him.

Thank you for organizing this website. I am researching the military history of my grandfather. PVT Harvey E Nelson. I have his combat history book, but this website is very helpful. Thank you and God bless the troops.
