Interested to see this item...my Father's name appears on the 137th's list...George J Timoney, East Orange, New Jersey, USA. I have a NJ newspaper article from the day that notes "Private George Timoney...has recovered from schrapnel wounds in the leg and is stationed in Paris...the 20 - year-old Infantryman was wounded December 29 in Belgium. Pvt. Timoney entered the Army while a student at Clifford Scott High School (NJ). He went overseas a year ago. A brother, T/Sgt. Robert Timoney is in the Pacific area."

Family documentation items related to his service include references: Pvt 1st Class/Battles & Campaigns...Normandy, N. France, Ardennes, Rhineland, Ground Combat (Rifleman). Wounded In Action December 29 1944/Primary Leg/Schrapnel/Purple Heart, Stationed/Paris, MP, Special Bodyguard/US Ambassador/France. Honorably Discharged, 12-9-1945. Serial # 32769067. Do have a # of photos w/"buddies," from the era, etc.
Thank you for compiling & sharing this information related to our history. Much appreciated! Wish I had asked my Dad more questions! Regards, Jill (Timoney) Johnson

I just discovered a picture and metals belong to Sgt. James A. Burzo. They are hanging on the wall of one of my employees home. Silver star and Purple Hart. The family has no idea who he was, only an uncle they never met. They believed he died in a jap pow cap in the 1950s. I want to let them know what a hero he was and set there family history straight .

I found your information on the 137 Infantry after finding letters my grandfather had written to my grandmother. My grandfather, H.B. Crawley was a private with the L 137 Infantry. He was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded on March 7, 1945. I am just beginning to read the letters(almost 200) and am finding the information on your webpage fascinating and informative.

Roberta, I want to thank you for your dedication to these great men and for all of your hard work in maintaining this website. My father, 2nd Lt. James P Kiley served in the 161st Field Artillery Battalion. As I'm sure you know they supported the 134th in many battles. Dad passed away in 1969, so I never learned much of his war experience from him. Your website has been an invaluable source for me in getting a feel for just what these brave men went through. Thank you very, very much.

Thank you for these photos. My grandfather is in two of the photos in France on Christmas. I wish I knew more about his service.

I came across this site looking on more information on my father, PFC Robert B Lewis. I know he was in the 137th infantry but I do not know of his battalion. He served during WWII and was a POW a that time as well. If anyone knows of who he served with or where they were captured, please share.

My father (Albert Keller) was assigned to this Infantry and was a prisoner of war during that time. He passed away when I was only 9 years old so there was so much I never knew about those times. I appreciate this site immensely, it gives me a look into the hell he and all of you went through during the war. Thank you for the beautiful website you have created.
