Pfc. Johnnie C. Certain was from Franklin County Tennessee. He entered service on August 5, 1943 at Ft Oglethorpe, Georgia. He was assigned to the 134th Infantry Regiment and landed at Omaha Beach on July 5 - 6, 1944. He was seriously wounded in action on August 12, 1944 during the battle for Mortain, France and he died of his wounds 2 days later on August 14, 1944. He is buried at the Brittany American Cemetery in St. James (Manache), France.
