Clyde Winget Harriman, son of John Francis and Lillie Bell (Watkins) Harriman, was born November 22, 1909 in Marion, Ohio. He married Lucille Court on September 6, 1929. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At that time he was living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and working at Schenley Construction Company. He enlisted in the Army January 14, 1944, trained at Camp Croft, South Carolina, and departed the U.S. for the ETO in July 1944. He joined Company A, 60th Engineer Combat Battalion from the 48th Replacement Battalion August 11, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of Mortain, France. He was promoted to Corporal September 7, 1944. Cpl Clyde W Harriman was killed in action on September 23, 1944, in the vicinity of Erbeviller, about 10 miles east of Nancy, France. He is buried at Price Cemetery, Richwood, Ohio.
