Company C - 320th Infantry Regiment

Ray Norman Woerner, son of George Washington and Eva Jenny (Hartman) Woerner, was born August 19, 1915 in Perry Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. He married Mary R Adams and the couple had one child, a son, Marvin R Woerner born January 14, 1945. Ray N Woerner registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and was inducted into the Army September 1, 1943 at Allentown, Pennsylvania. He joined Company C, 320th Infantry Regiment on July 13, 1944 from the 41st Replacement Battalion and served as a Rifleman. He suffered a serious head wound July 29, 1944 south of St Lo in the vicinity of Torigni Sur Vire, France and died of his wounds August 1, 1944. Pfc Ray N Woerner is buried at Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery, Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania.
