Company B - 320th Infantry Regiment

Lacy Lee Tilley, son of King Solomon and Cozetta Mae (Howerton) Tilley, was born December 5, 1911 in Lamar, West Virginia. He married Gladys Hale on June 23, 1932. The couple had a son who died at birth. He registered for the draft October 26, 1940. At the time he was working at the Kingston Pocahontas Coal Company in Springton, West Virginia. He was inducted into the Army January 8, 1944 at Huntington, West Virginia. He joined Company B, 320th Infantry Regiment from the 48th Replacement Battalion on August 9, 1944 and served as a Rifleman. Pvt Lacy L Tilley was killed in action 3 days later on August 12, 1944 in the vicinity of Mortain, France. He is buried at Brittany American Cemetery, Saint-James, France.
