Company L - 320th Infantry Regiment

Ludwig Schwarz, son of Ludwig B and Mary Louise (Schuster) Schwarz, was born in Lewis County, Washington on June 24, 1915. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At that time he was living in Chehalis, Washington and working at the Palmer Lumber Company in Chehalis. He was inducted into the Army June 9, 1942 at Tacoma, Washington. He joined Company L, 320th Infantry Regiment July 30, 1944 from the 86th Replacement Battalion and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 20, 1944. Pfc Ludwig Schwarz was reported missing November 9 in the vicinity of the Gremecey Forest northeast of Nancy, France and was later confirmed killed in action November 28, 1944. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint-Avold, France.
