Company  K -  320th Infantry Regiment

Raymond Arlington McCarroll, son of Lewis and Olive Myrtle (Ryder) McCarroll, was born April 1, 1919 in Pennsylvania. He married Viola Warner September 8, 1940 and the couple had a son Raymond, born in 1942. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was living in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and working at Armour Leather Company in Newberry. He was inducted into the Army March 25, 1944 and joined Company K, 320th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 71st Replacement Battalion October 4, 1944. Pvt Raymond A McCarroll was wounded in action November 8 by a land mine explosion in the vicinity of Fresnes-en-Saulnois, France and died of his wounds the following day, November 9, 1944. He is buried at Montoursville Cemetery, Montoursville, Pennsylvania.
