Leo Frank Lastovica. son of Leo and Matilda (Novak) Lastovica, was born June 5, 1918 in Omaha, Nebraska. He married Carla Mae Pearson April 1942 in San Francisco, California and the couple had a daughter Carol Lee. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was working at the St Louis Spring Company in Omaha. He served as a Squad Leader in Company G, 320th Infantry Regiment and landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 6, 1944. He was promoted to Sergeant July 29, 1944 and again to Staff Sergeant September 25, 1944. He was injured November 1 and returned to duty November 9, 1944. S/Sgt Leo F Lastovica was killed in action November 20, 1944 in the vicinity of Bermering, France. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
