Ervin Michael Lamp, son of Alvin John and Catherine Esther (Carpenter) Lamp, was born February 14, 1925 in Pipestone County, Minnesota. He registered for the draft February 15, 1943. At the time he was living in Flandreau, South Dakota. He was inducted into the Army December 3, 1943 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota and joined Company C, 320th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 41st Replacement Battalion July 13, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of St Lo, France. Pvt Ervin M Lamp was reported missing August 11, 1944 in the vicinity of Mortain, France and was later confirmed killed in action on that date. He is buried at Brittany American Cemetery, Saint James, France.
