Louis Frank Ladislas, son of Joseph Louis and Yvonne Nathalie (Rieu) Ladislas, was born May 2, 1922 in Bicknell, Indiana. He married Elsie Nordell Tansel in 1942. He registered for the draft June 26, 1942. At the time he was living in Harvey, Illinois and working at the Perfection Gear Company. He was inducted into the Army in early 1943 and served in Company G, 320th Infantry Regiment. He landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 6, 1944 and was wounded in action July 11, 1944 during the battle for St Lo, France. He returned to duty September 6 after recuperating from his wounds and was seriously wounded by a landmine explosion September 11, 1944 in the vicinity of Bayon, France. Pvt Louis F Ladislas died of his wounds the following day, September 12, 1944. He is buried at Epinal American Cemetery, Epinal, France.
