Anton Leo Hubl, son of Anton Frank and Bozena (Sochor) Hubl, was born November 15, 1920 in Adams County, Nebraska. He registered for the draft February 16, 1942 when he was a 21 year old farmer living in Stratton, Nebraska. He entered the Army in August 1942 and served in Company B, 320th Infantry Regiment. He landed at Omaha Beach Normandy France July 6, 1944, fought in the battle for St Lo, and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge July 25, 1944. He was promoted to Sergeant July 26, to Staff Sergeant August 25, and to Tech Sergeant October 10, 1944. T/Sgt Anton L Hubl was reported missing November 9, 1944 and was later confirmed killed in action on that date. He is buried at the WWII American Military Cemetery, Hamm Luxembourg.
