Ford Oliver Hiddleston, son of Harry and Ruth (Jewett) Hiddleston was born January 6, 1919 in DeSoto, Kansas. He was a member of the Kansas National Guard, registered for the draft October 16, 1940, and was mobilized to Federal Service December 23, 1940 at Lawrence Kansas. He served in Company M, 320th Infantry Regiment and was killed in action March 3, 1945 in the vicinity of Sevelen, Germany. Pfc Ford O Hiddleston was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for heroism during the battle in which he died. He is buried at Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.

Private First Class Ford O Hiddleston, 20726641, Infantry, United States Army, for heroic service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States near * * * , Germany on 3 March 1945. After superior enemy fire power caused personnel of a motorized patrol to dismount, Private Hiddleston, a light truck driver, returned to his vehicle and was warming his motor under covering light machine gun fire while waiting for the other vehicles to withdraw and personnel to return to his truck when he was killed by enemy small arms fire. His heroic self-sacrifice enabled another man to drive the vehicle and men to safety, and reflects credit upon his character as a soldier. Entered military service from Kansas.
