Frank Jacob Hartmann III, son of Frank Jacob Sr and Emily F (Ade) Hartmann, was born November 12, 1923 at Camden, New Jersey. He registered for the draft June 30, 1942 when he was 18 years old and was inducted into the Army November 5, 1943 at Camden, New Jersey. He joined Company B, 320th Infantry Regiment from the 41st Replacement Battalion July 13, 1944 when the unit was about 6 miles north of St Lo, France. Pvt Frank J Hartmann III was killed in action July 18, 1944 during the battle for St Lo. He is buried at Beverly National Cemetery, Beverly, New Jersey.
