C D "Scoot" Wills, son of Ollie Lee and Beulah Lee (Granstaff) Wills, was born October 24, 1925 in Smith County, Tennessee. He registered for the draft October 25, 1943, the day after his 18th birthday, while he was still attending High School. Inducted into the Army June 20, 1944 at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, he joined Company I, 137th Infantry Regiment from the 14th Replacement Battalion on December 23, 1944 and served as a Rifleman. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge January 1, 1945 and promoted from Private to Private First Class February 8, 1945. Pfc C D Wills was killed in action March 30, 1945 in the vicinity of Gladbeck, Germany. He is buried at Netherlands American Cemetery. Margraten, Netherlands.
