137th Infantry Regiment - Company I

Thomas William Verity, son of George Newton and Hazel (Toothill) Verity, was born December 29, 1923 in Walden, New York. He registered for the draft June 30, 1942 and was inducted into the Army February 18, 1943 at Orange, New York. He joined Company I, 137th Infantry Regiment September 16, 1944 and served as a Messenger. T/5 Thomas W Verity was killed in action September 23, 1944 in the vicinity of Champenoux, northeast of Nancy, France. He is buried at Walkill Valley Cemetery, Walden, New York.
