137th Infantry Regiment - Company M

Joseph Catching Traweek, Jr, son of Joseph Catching Sr and Jessie Mae (Schultz) Traweek, was born in Mississippi in 1921. He was a member of the Mississippi National Guard and was inducted into Federal service on November 25, 1940 at Laurel Army Air Field, Mississippi. He served in Company M, 137th Infantry Regiment. 1st Lt Joseph C Traweek, Jr was wounded in action July 13, 1944 during the battle for St Lo, France and died of his wounds that same day. He is buried at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
