137th Infantry Regiment - Company F

Charles Isaac Templeton, son of John Samuel and Parriet (Curtis) Templeton, was born February 26, 1921 in Spencer, Tennessee. He registered for the draft February 16, 1942 and was inducted into the Army January 10, 1943 at Camp Forrest, Tennessee. He served in Company F, 137th Infantry Regiment and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 1, 1944. He was promoted from Private First Class to Sergeant, Squad Leader, on January 21, 1945. Sgt Charles I Templeton was killed in action March 9, 1945 northwest of Essen, Germany. He is buried at Molloy Cemetery, Spencer, Tennessee.
