Anthony Minard (born Minardi), son of Guiseppe (Joseph) and Rosa (Curria) Minardi, was born July 3, 1923 in Meadowbrook, West Virginia. He registered for the draft June 30, 1942 and was inducted into the Army June 28, 1943 at Clarksburg, West Virginia. He served in Company B, 137th Infantry Regiment and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 1, 1944. He was promoted to Sergeant, Squad Leader October 1, 1944. Sgt Anthony Minard was reported missing December 9, 1944 in the vicinity of Sarreguemines, France and was later confirmed killed in action on that date. He is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery, Clarksburg, West Virginia.
