Herman Eiben Hoffrogge, son of Wilhelm Gottfried and Johanne Fredricka
Margaretha (Deling) Hoffrogge, was born October 21, 1921 in Revere,
Minnesota. He registered for the draft February 16, 1942. At that time he
was living in Tracy, Minnesota and working on his father's farm in Tracy. He
served as a Rifleman in Company L, 137th Infantry Regiment and landed at
Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 6, 1944. Pfc Herman E Hoffrogge was killed
in action July 14, 1944 by shell blast fragments in the vicinity of St Lo,
France and was posthumously awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 2,
1944. He is buried at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer,
France.
