137th Infantry Regiment, Company E

Roy Vernold Hedin, son of Carl Johan and Tyra Emelia (Lindblade) Hedin, was born June 11, 1917 in Lindsborg, Kansas. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940, entered the Army during February 1941, and served in Company E, 137th Infantry Regiment. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 1, 1944. Pfc Roy V Hedin was killed in action September 30, 1944 by artillery blast fragments during fighting in the Foret De Gremecey, France. He is buried at Elmwood Cemetery Lindsborg, Kansas.
