Benjamin Franklin Harsh, Jr, son of Benjamin Franklin, Sr and Mary Ann (Kreider) Harsh, was born May 27, 1917 in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and enlisted in the Army August 25, 1941 at New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. He joined Company B, 137th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 86th Replacement Battalion July 21, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of St Lo, France and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 1, 1944. Pfc Benjamin F Harsh, Jr was killed in action November 19, 1944 in the vicinity of Bertring, France. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
