Roy Kenneth Abbott, son of Wylie Fletcher and Mattie Lou (Davenport) Abbott, was born November 6, 1922 in Malvern, Arkansas. He married Verneita Moore in August 1943 and the couple had one child, a daughter, Royetta Jane. Pfc Roy K Abbott served in Company M, 137th Infantry Regiment. He was killed in action by artillery shell fragments on July 13, 1944 during the battle for St Lo, France. He is buried at Bismarck Cemetery, Bismarck, Arkansas.
