Francis Melvin Wolf, son of Emery Elmer and Dollie Leola (Worthington) Wolf, was born March 8, 1919 in Lead Hill, Missouri. He married Maurine Foresee January 13, 1940 and the couple had a son, Rocky Lyndon Wolf.

He was inducted into the Army May 19, 1944 at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, joined Company K, 134th Infantry Regiment November 18, 1944 and served as a Rifleman. Pvt Francis M Wolf was killed in action while fighting off an enemy counter attack in the vicinity of Habirchen, Germany when he was struck and killed by fragments from artillery fire. He is buried at Springfield National Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri.
