Joseph Frances Wimsett, son of William Frances and Lillie Mae (Vittitow) Wimsett, was born June 29, 1913 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. He married Jessie Beatrice Parkerson December 17, 1938 and the couple had one child, a daughter Betty Jo. He was inducted into the Army April 1, 1944 at Fort Thomas, Newport Kentucky. He joined Company C, 134th Infantry Regiment on November 18, 1944 from the 83rd Replacement Battalion and served as a Rifleman. He was injured in action in the vicinity of Linstroff, France on November 22 and returned to duty December 31, 1944. He was reported missing in action January 5, 1945 during an attack while advancing through the woods north of Lutrebois, Belgium. It was later confirmed that he had been killed in action. Pvt Joseph F Wimsett is buried at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Bardstown, Kentucky.
