Floyd Elsworth Whittaker, son of Thomas Floyd and Elizabeth (Humphrey) Whittaker, was born May 5, 1919 in Blue Springs, Nebraska. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and entered service in February 1941. Prior to entering the Army he was a farmer. He married Mary Frances Hicks in September 1943. S/Sgt Floyd E Whittaker served as a Squad Leader in the Second Platoon, Company C, 134th Infantry Regiment. He was killed in action July 15, 1944 during the battle for St Lo, France. He is buried at Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs, Nebraska.
