Arlin George Wenz, son of Louis and Bertha Marie
(Schlechte) Wenz, was born May 21, 1913 in Utica, Nebraska. He registered for
the draft October 16, 1940. At that time he was living in Minnehaha County,
South Dakota. He was inducted into the Army April 15, 1942 at Fort Snelling,
Minnesota. He joined the 134th Infantry Regiment sometime before they departed
for the ETO in May 1944 and served as a Squad Leader in the Second Platoon,
Company L. He was killed in action July 18, 1944 in the vicinity of St Lo,
France. Sgt Arlin G Wenz is buried at Normandy American Cemetery at
Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
