Leland Clyde Thacker, son of Otho and Olive May (Hanna) Thacker, was born in Falls City, Nebraska on May 20, 1915. He was a member of the Nebraska National Guard and was inducted into Federal service December 23, 1940 at Falls City. S/Sgt Leland C Thacker served as a Platoon Sergeant in the Third Platoon, Company B, 134th Infantry Regiment. He was seriously wounded in action July 17, 1944 during the battle for St Lo, France. After recuperating from his wounds at an Army hospital in England, he returned to duty November 14, 1944. He was again seriously wounded in action on December 7, 1944 in the vicinity of Sarreguemines, France near the German border. S/Sgt Leland C Thacker died of his wounds that same day. He is buried at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
