134th Infantry Regiment - Company A

James William Sheets, son of James and Bertha (Seltzer) Sheets, was born in Uhrichsville, Ohio on January 29, 1922. He lived most of his life in Dennison, Ohio and attended Dennison Public Schools. He registered for the draft February 16, 1942, and was inducted into the Army February 9, 1943, at Akron, Ohio. Prior to his induction he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad maintenance department. He received his training at Camp Rucker, Alabama and Camp Forrest, Tennessee. Pvt James W Sheets was a Rifleman, Second Platoon, Company A, 134th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action July 17, 1944, during the battle for St Lo, France. He is buried at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville, Ohio.
