Frank Florian Rusczynski, son of Adam and Aniela Ella (Lugowska) Rusczynski, was born September 23, 1920 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He registered for the draft February 16, 1942 and was inducted into the Army August 19, 1942. He was a member of the Third Platoon, Company I, 134th Infantry Regiment and landed at Omaha Beach July 6, 1944. He was wounded by shrapnel July 17, 1944 during the battle for St Lo, France and returned to duty December 8, 1944. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant, Squad Leader on December 25, 1944. S/Sgt Frank F Rusczynski was killed in action January 1, 1945 by an artillery blast about a quarter mile east of Lutrebois, Belgium while fighting off an enemy attack. He was originally buried at Luxembourg American Cemetery at Hamm, Luxembourg and was laid to final rest at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Cemetery Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
