134th Infantry Regiment - Company C

Lawrence Merdan was born July 15, 1914 in Avon, Minnesota. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and was inducted into the Army April 4, 1942. He was a Rifleman in Headquarters Platoon, Company C, 134th Infantry Regiment and landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 5, 1944. He served with the Regiment during the entire war including Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, Ardennes, Alsace, and Central Europe. Pfc Lawrence Merdan returned to the U.S. aboard the Queen Mary in September 1945 and was discharged from the Army December 3, 1945. He passed away June 23, 1963 and is buried at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Saint Joseph, Minnesota.
