134th Infantry Regiment - Company F

Baxter Duncan Mastin, son of Monroe Peden and Bessie Alice (Myers) Mastin, was born July 30, 1921 in Ronda, North Carolina. He married Irene Mathis August 8, 1942 and the couple had a daughter. He registered for the draft February 16, 1942 and was inducted into the Army August 31, 1942 at Camp Croft, South Carolina. He served as a Rifleman in the First Platoon, Company F, 134th Infantry Regiment and landed at Omaha Beach Normandy, France July 5, 1944. Pfc Baxter D Mastin was killed in action by an artillery blast July 30, 1944 in the vicinity of Conde-sur-Vire, France. He is buried at Fishing Creek Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery, Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
