134th Infantry Regiment - Headquarters Company 2nd Battalion

Victor Joseph Martensen, Jr, son of Victor Joseph and Bertha (Knollman), was born January 25, 1918 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. His draft record lists him as 5' 8 1/2" tall, weighing 148 pounds, with grey eyes, blonde hair, and a light complexion. He was inducted into the Army on March 3, 1941 at Jacksonville, Florida. 1st Lt Victor J Martensen, Jr served as an Intelligence Officer in Headquarters Company 2nd Battalion, 134th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action August 9, 1944 in the vicinity of Mortain, France. He is buried at Metairie Cemetery, New Orleans, Louisiana.
