Jessie Franklin Malpass, son of Frank and Katie Malpass, was born in Thompson, South Carolina on October 2, 1921. He registered for the draft on February 14, 1942. At that time he was living in Atlanta, Georgia. His draft record lists him as 5' 9" tall, weighing 148 pounds, with blue eyes, brown hair, and a light complexion. According to the 1943 Atlanta City Directory, he was employed by Exposition Cotton Mills. He and his wife Willene had one child, a son Jesse Andrew Malpass, born May 20, 1943.

Pfc Jessie F Malpass was inducted into the Army January 8, 1943 at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia. He served as a Rifleman in the First Platoon, Company B, 134th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on September 21, 1944 near Agincourt, a small town in the vicinity of Nancy, France. He is commemorated on a war memorial erected by the people of Agincourt and dedicated to the 35th Infantry Division soldiers who died there. He is buried at Hollywood Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia. Unfortunately, this cemetery is no longer maintained. His headstone has fallen and been damaged. His gravesite may no longer be marked.
