134th Infantry Regiment - Headquarters Company 3rd Battalion

Edward John Konrath, son of Simon and Cecelia (Schadl) Konrath, was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 18, 1908. He registered for the draft in Chicago on October 16, 1940. At that time he worked at Libby McNeill and Libby Canning Company at the Union Stockyards in Chicago. His draft registration record lists him as 5' 6" tall, weighing 140 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, and a dark complexion. He was inducted into the Army August 22, 1942 at Chicago, Illinois. He served in Headquarters Platoon, Headquarters Company 3rd Battalion, 134th Infantry Regiment and landed on Omaha Beach, July 7, 1944. T/5 Edward J Konrath was Killed in Action at St Lo, France, July 24, 1944. He is buried at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer,France.
