134th Infantry Regiment - HQ Company 3rd Battalion

Walter Joseph Hoyle was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 30, 1912. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. His draft registration list him as 5' 11" tall, weighing 150 pounds, with blue eyes, blonde hair, and a light complexion. He was inducted into the Army at Fort Custer, Michigan on April 2, 1942.

He served in Headquarters Company 3rd Battalion, 134th Infantry Regiment and landed on Omaha Beach, Normandy, France on July 7, 1944. He was promoted from Private First Class to Corporal on July 23, and from Corporal to Staff Sergeant July 27, 1944. S/Sgt Walter J Hoyle was Killed in Action south of St Lo, France on July 29, 1944. He is buried at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
