Marshall Robert Carpenter, the son of George and Ella Carpenter was born July 27, 1916 in Lometa, Texas. He registered for the draft in Lometa, Texas sometime during 1940 - 1941. His draft record lists him as 6' 2" tall, weighing 207 pounds, with light brown hair, blue eyes, and a light complexion. He was inducted into the Army at Fort Sam Houston, Texas on February 6, 1942 and married Madge Kirkland on July 9, 1943 in Cottonwood, Alabama. He was promoted from Private First Class to Sergeant on August 8, 1944.

Sgt Marshall R Carpenter was Killed in Action on August 24, 1944 in the vicinity of Montargis, France. He is buried at Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France.
