134th Infantry Regiment - Company D

Clarence Charles "Sonny" Bartsch. the son of Charles and Magdalena Bartsch, was born on June 29, 1909, in West Chicago, Illinois. He married Mary F West in 1940.  He landed on Omaha Beach July 5, 1944 at 1630 hours (4:30 PM). On July 15 the Regiment launched an attack with Hill 122 as the initial objective and St. Lo, France as the final objective. The town of Emilie was captured late in the afternoon and elements of the Regiment succeeded in reaching Hill 122 after forcing the enemy to withdraw.

2nd Lt Clarence C Bartsch was Killed in Action July 15, 1944. He is buried at Normandy American CemeterY at Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
